Corporation Announces First UK Installation of PlatinumT
512x512 Router at London's IMG Media |
| CINCINNATI,
August 1, 2006 - Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) today
announced that IMG Media, the world's largest sports
content production company, is the first company in
the United Kingdom to take delivery of the largest frame
of the new Harris® PlatinumT router. |
The Platinum router will be installed in the mediahouse
Master Control Room (MCR), forming an integral part
of the company's post production facility in west London.
A division of IMG Media, mediahouse had been gradually
running out of space in its MCR and recently decided
to replace an ageing router that had reached its expansion
limitations. At a time when mediahouse was also looking
to make a transition to high definition (HD), the evaluation
that followed enabled mediahouse to consider the latest
HD-capable routing technology within one of the most
compact frames on the market today.
The high-capacity, small-footprint Harris Platinum routing
switchers provide high-quality signal routing up to
256x256 in 15RU and 512x512 in 28RU and support a mix
of any signal - video and audio, from analogue to HD
- all in the same frame. Built for maximum reliability
in even the most harsh, 24/7 operation, PlatinumT is
ideal for any environment that requires routing of a
large number of signals, including network, local broadcaster,
mobile production, cable, telecom, military, government
and corporate applications.
Designed
to be a flexible interface, monitoring point and control
between all internal areas and the outside world,
the mediahouse fully digital MCR maintains excellent
video and audio connectivity to the BT Tower in London
by way of 10 bidirectional digital video with embedded
audio lines. At the
core is the MCR's central Harris PlatinumT router,
which has full connectivity to all areas of operations.
