News Production
| Visitors
to the Harris booth will see an end-to-end demonstration
of the full NewsForce HD/SD news workflow, showcasing
transparency of HD/SD operations from ingest through
production and editing to air. Harris ADC-1000
playout automation will be shown driving the Snell
& Wilcox Kahuna production switcher
using instructions from an AP ENPS® rundown
to queue, play and switch media elements from
that list and advance them to air highlighting
ADC-1000 control across multiple Harris platforms,
including the NEXIO AMP server, Platinum
router, CENTRIO multiviewer and G7 graphics
system. |

The
NewsForce demo will also feature the Inscriber MOS newsroom
graphics solution, which empowers journalists to create
customized, template-based graphics from within the
NRCS and dynamically fulfill them when cued to air from
the newsroom rundown.
| Harris
is also showcasing its comprehensive range of
new NewsForce editors, optimized for the quick
edits and 24/7 demands of live news production
the Velocity ESX on-SAN high-resolution
editor; the Velocity XNG field editor; and
the Velocity PRX low-resolution proxy editor.
All editors deliver on the speed, flexibility
and fault tolerance provided by the NEXIO
storage area network (SAN), and offer seamless
integration with leading newsroom computer systems
to streamline the newsroom workflow. |
 |
NewsForce
also features full integration of Apple® Final
Cut Pro® to provide editing directly onto the
NEXIO SAN even during ingest and sharing
of media and timelines with NewsForce and Final
Cut Pro editors. NewsForce plug-ins for Final Cut
Pro® enhance content searches of the NEXIO SAN,
enable browse viewing and shot selection, and provide
FCP desktops with MOS NRCS integration. NewsForce
shortens the speed to edit with immediate access from
Final Cut Pro® to shared content of the NEXIO
SAN, while also enabling playout of the edit to begin
sooner than when rendered from Final Cut Pro®.
Sports
Production
Visitors to the Harris booth can also see a sports production
demonstration that emulates a live sporting event, showing
how Harris solutions are ideal for meeting the "speed-to-air"
workflow demands of real-world, rigorous sports broadcasting
applications. Leveraging more than 10 years of experience
covering major sporting events, Harris and Dixon Sports
Computing have combined to offer the HiLite system,
designed specifically for the sports broadcast industry.
|
|
Utilizing
the Dixon sports engine, which is specifically
designed to log and manage metadata and perform
systems control, and the Harris NEXIO AMP server,
highlights are available to go to air almost instantly.
|
Features
include live, one-time logging of sports, with unlimited
loggers and editors; immediate access to any play from
any edit station; and compatibility with Harris Velocity
editors and Apple® Final Cut Pro®.
Also demonstrated will be
the Production Playout Center (PPC) server playout
application from Broadcast Controls Inc., which is
designed to handle a range of production control room
environments and allow users to get material on-air
in record time. From scripted news to on-the-fly live
productions, the PPC has three core modules that fit
into any type of production environment Newsroom
Script List, a scripted playout module; the Shot Selector
module, specifically designed for live, unscripted
playout; and the Quick Pick Fast Replay module, which
is ideal for fast turnaround of multi-points within
multiple media IDs critical when there is no
time for an edit suite.
For
facilities racing to produce better graphics and optimize
workflow, Harris also will be demonstrating the new
Inscriber G7 integrated broadcast graphics system,
which delivers 2D and 3D real-time graphics flawlessly
in SD or HD over two channels. Featuring integrated
clips, stills, DVE, and full AES audio support, the
G7 also integrates RTXports for running
third-party real-time applications, such as data streams
from arena scoreboards, without needing a separate
playout device.
