The 32 GB P2 card release effectively quadruples the
capacity of P2 cards within one year and gives camera
operators new flexibility by allowing them to shoot
and store four times more high quality SD/HD content
and reinforces Panasonic's commitment to creating
elegant working solutions to complex production problems. The
32 GB P2 cards are available at a targeted price point
of around 1,200 euros.
Globally, the demand for flash memory now outstrips
supply, confirming Panasonics strategy of solid state
memory being the optimal medium for content data acquisition
and movement. However, Panasonic has still secured
the high quality flash memory used in the P2 cards
at a record low price that it is now passing on to
its customers and maintaining the overall downward
trend for prices.
P2 is fast becoming the industry leader in broadcast
IT-based production. In fact, about 80 percent of
the European broadcasters deploying full IT production
methods use P2-based products. This is creating a
ripple effect among independent producers, encouraging
more and more to make the transition to IT workflows
that rely on the P2 ? whether the production is TV
sports and news, or drama and feature film.
Beyond cost-effectiveness, advantages of the P2 include
ease-of-use, mobility, and reliability. Through the
assistance of Metadata, IT-based production enables
immediate content review, logging, and editing that
save time and enhance efficiency.
The 32 GB P2 card is compatible now with Panasonic
AG-HVX200 and AG-HPX500 P2 HD camcorders purchased
after April 30, 2007. The new card is also compatible
now with Panasonic HPX2100 that has been upgraded
following the 16 GB card release. Free upgrades for
other P2HD and SD P2 products will be available in
November 2007.
