This
input module is capable of receiving signals from a
broad range of encoders. This could be MPEG2Layer2,
MP3, WMA and AAC as well as Internet radio streams.
By using MPEG2Layer2 cascading can be avoided thus maintaining
the original audio quality. There are different encoders
with different price tags. Local radio stations for
example, can use low cost freeware PC encoders (Shoutcast/Icecast),
while larger organisations could choose to use professional
MPEGLayer 2 hardware codecs.

The MXTS is a high quality audio encoder for cable,
terrestrial and satellite audio distribution as well
as STL-applications. The key word for this modular audio
system is interfacing, which it can do in several ways.
Besides regular analogue and digital inputs it is also
able to process audio over X.21 and E1 links. The output,
whether it be ASI, E1 or IP, is a DVB compliant multiplex
for up to 19 channels. RDS support per channel to feed
FM transmitters and cable head ends is one of its strong
features. It is also an excellent choice for cable operators
to serve the supply of analogue head ends (including
RDS) as well as digital ones - even simultaneously if
required. The new IP module is a welcome extension of
this DVB encoder as it keeps up with the latest developments
in the contribution of audio signals.
Headroom GmbH based in Berlin manufactures the MXTS.
You/Com is responsible for the world-wide distribution
(excluding Germany) of this versatile state-of-the-art
DVB encoder.
