Abaltat Muse is the world's first video-driven soundtrack
composer.
Representing a fundamental departure from traditional
post-production tools, Abaltat Muse is the first post-production
software to exploit artificial intelligence by measuring
different selected elements in a moving picture and
composing music to them.
Abaltat Muse requires a video editor's skills to create
music, not a musician's. The application allows users
to compose music in two stages: in the composition stage,
the picture sequence is loaded into the application
as a QuickTime file which is then analysed. Based on
this analysis and the selection of a "band"
and tempo, a first draft of the soundtrack is composed.
The user then moves onto the second stage in which the
composition is customised or "arranged" ?
this is achieved through the simple use of
keyframes. For example, melodic constrains, instrument
selection, scale modulation, and audio mix are all adjustable
using keyframes locked to the picture. The result can
be exported as a full mix (either .aiff or .wav file),
track by track, or as a midi file.
* Mac version can now be purchased as a download
or as a hardcopy. Both versions are priced at
1,300€/$1,700 USD (additional shipping charge for
hardcopy)
* Windows version to be available before year-end
2007
Abaltat Band
Abaltat Band is a suite of "bands" which work
as a plug-in with the Abaltat Muse application. It is
here that the user can select various genres/styles
of music. Three bands are currently available: Ensemble,
Atmospheric, an R&B, all of which come bundled free
with the purchase of Abaltat Muse. Additional bands
will be released throughout 2007 and will be priced
separately and available to download from the Abaltat
Web site.
The audio samples in Abaltat Band are supplied by Native
Instruments and Garritan Libraries, two of the market
leaders in the audio sample production industry. Because
of this, Abaltat Band has a natural live feel. Authentic
sounding instruments are combined with unique software
to create the first radical departure in the concept
of soundtrack production for the 21st Century.
Abaltat Beat
Abaltat Beat is a software application which has two
functions.
First, it functions as a beat calculator, allowing the
user to calculate the optimum beats-per-minute (BPM)
for an edited picture sequence. This is done by analyzing
the Edit Decision List (EDL). Abaltat Beat then suggests
a series of possible fits, all of which can be listened
to. The favoured BPM rate can then be used to search
a music library or for input into Abaltat Muse.
Second, it functions as a rhythm machine. By selecting
a suggested BPM and selecting a time signature and drum
pattern (included with the application), a drum track
is created that is in sync with the picture. The user
can then listen to the result and export it as audio
(AIFF), QuickTime (with picture), and Musical Instrument
Digital Interface (MIDI) files.
* Mac version is available as a download and
is priced at ?99/$130 USD
* Windows version will be available as a download
in August, 2007
All of Abaltat's products come bundled with many sample
files. Demos of the product can be viewed on the Company's
Web site.
