Dielectric Communications IBC2007 Preview
(20/06/2007) IBC2007 New Product Announcements

MobileMedia Products

Dielectric will be exhibiting in the IBC2007 Mobile Media hall, where visitors can learn more about trends in the mobile media market, the industry's unique transmission requirements, and the company's wide product range designed specifically to facilitate mobile media broadcasts. The complete product line includes :

Broadband CP Panel Antenna
Dielectric is introducing a new cost-effective, high-power, circularly polarized UHF antenna, the Broadband CP Panel Antenna. The new antenna, available in a variety of power levels up to 16 kW, covers the entire lower 700-MHz band and uses multilayer parasitic patch technology (MPPT) developed by Dielectric. This technology allows the antenna to transmit a high-power circularly polarized signal, traditionally available only from a narrow-band array. The antenna features a low windload and VSWR of less than 1.1:1. A patent is pending on the Broadband CP Panel Antenna.

Broadband Omni CP Pylon Antenna
The new patent-pending Broadband Omni CP Pylon Antenna from Dielectric offers a low-cost, reduced-complexity solution for broadcasters utilizing the lower 700-MHz band. By using a third of the radiators, feed system, and connections typically used in a panel-style antenna, the new Broadband Omni CP Pylon Antenna provides increased reliability ? in a self-supporting, pylon-style format. Designed with short element spacing, Dielectric's new pylon antenna additionally features a low RFR, a VSWR of less than 1.2:1, and a low windload ? reduced 40 percent from the typical panel antenna approach. The new unit's design incorporates discrete, circularly polarized, truncated broadside helical elements.

New Filters and Components
Dielectric also will show a new line of low-power filters and components designed to meet the growing LPTV, DVB-H, and mobile TV markets. These filters and components are small in size to fit into standard 19-inch rack-mount enclosures and can be customized to meet specific filtering requirements. Visitors to Dielectric's IBC2007 exhibit, stand M587, will have the opportunity to see the following new components:
  * 1.7-GHz DVB-H DR Bandpass RF System
* 800-watt 700-MHz MobileMedia TEM Bandpass Filter
* 800-watt 700-MHz MobileMedia DR Filter
* 200-watt DVB-H UHF Filter
* 200-watt Harmonic Filter
* 200-watt Dual Directional Coupler

MobileMedia Antennas
Dielectric offers a full line of antennas designed specifically for the 700-MHz Mobile Media spectrum. The new 700 Series includes slotted coaxial, panel, and stripline antennas that can be horizontally, vertically, circularly, or elliptically polarized and customized. Included in the product line are the 7C Series, 7P Series, and 7S Series.

* The 7C Series consists of slotted coaxial antennas designed for applications requiring a lightweight, low-cost, 6- or 10-MHz solution in the 700-MHz band. It retains the standard center-fed pylon style that has long been popular for its simple, rugged, and reliable construction. The 7C > Series antennas are available in horizontally, circularly, and elliptically polarized versions.

* Featuring a unique, compact panel, the 7P Series meets both omni-directional and unique pattern requirements with either horizontal or vertical polarization. The panel's wide impedance and pattern bandwidth make it suitable for multiplexed channels, and the number and location of the panels can be varied to determine the azimuth and elevation patterns. Each individual panel's input can be 7/16 DIN or type N, while the array feed system can be specified to accommodate any input size. Customized versions and circular or elliptical polarizations are available by request, and a 7PD version offers a duplet option with two layers incorporated into one panel with a single feed point.

* For applications requiring a horizontally polarized, omni-directional broadband solution, the 7S Series of stripline antennas has 80 percent less windload than a comparable panel antenna by virtue of its enclosure in a full radome. It is available in one to four sections, and while the input to each individual four-layer section is type N, the array feed system can be specified to accommodate any input size.
