Expway Opens New Horizons in Mobile TV
Key Expway highlights at IBC 2006 include

Expway provides electronic service guide software for content providers, mobile, broadband and broadcast operators, and consumer electronics manufacturers. Its FastESG™ (electronic service guide for mobile) and FastEPG™ (electronic program guide for IPTV and broadcast) enable consumers to browse, select, and view content relevant to them. By providing the entry point to live TV programmes and on-demand videos, radio channels, music, ring tones, screen-savers, games, interactive services, etc., Expway's solutions allow operators to deliver an efficient, attractive and ultimately addictive electronic guide to their service offerings.

Among the solutions demonstrated at IBC 2006:

- The world's first ESG commercially deployed over a DVB-H network. Expway's FastESG™ solution chosen by Italian DVB-H operator H3G is the first to be deployed in the market. Six weeks after its launch, the service already counted more than 100,000 subscribers. Expway today has become the leading provider of ESG on the Italian market.

- Expway's FastESG™ solution on both DVB-H and 3G networks, demonstrating that one single gateway can provide access to many content on convergent mobile networks.
The solution, compliant with the DVB-IPDC standard, is designed to broadcast TV programs and services while using the operator's return channels, SMS, 3G or GPRS, to provide advanced interactive services on a DVB-H platform such as voting, gaming, content-related advertising, specific programs sent on a push mode...

- Advanced interactive services for DVB-H networks, which allow for the easy insertion and reception of extra data, providing operators and content providers with means to enrich their offering. Expway's FastESG™ platform enables services such as:

- Expway's partnerships with graphic engines to enable unlimited ESG customization. FastESG™ interfaces with leading graphic engine providers. At IBC 2006 will be showcased interfaces with HTML, SVG, and other terminal-specific graphic technologies. FastESG provides the data management platform to build services that are then rendered by the graphic player.

- Expway will co-exhibit with Enensys and Envivio to provide a complete DVB-H transmission chain. FastESG™ will be interfaced with Enensys DVB-H IP Encapsulator and DVB-H modulator and Envivio MPEG-4 encoder.

- FastESG™ end-to-end software platform's full interoperability will also be presented on the bmcoforum stand M331.

Also showcased will be FastEPG™, an end-to-end EPG transport solution over IP based on the TV-Anytime standard and compliant with the Digital Video Broadcasting DVB-IPTV specifications. Used with digital video recorders, set-top boxes, and the latest TV sets, the EPG enables broadband subscribers to find, book, view, and review content. For operators, it can serve as an essential differentiator feature, helping them to strengthen their brands.
FastEPG™ manages the import, storage, transmission, reception, caching, and querying of XML EPG data for both broadcast TV guides and video-on-demand catalogs. FastEPG™ allows updates in pull (unicast), push (multicast), and hybrid (mixed) modes.
