Modulus Video's presence at IBC 2006
(01/09/2006) Modulus Video's new ME2000 family expands Modulus Video's market leading line of AVC encoders with a system that delivers performance and value in a compact platform with low power consumption.

Some highlights of Modulus Video's presence at IBC will include:
1. The IBC Debut of the world's first compact (1RU) multi-format encoding platform.
Modulus Video's new ME2000 family expands Modulus Video's market leading line of AVC encoders with a system that delivers performance and value in a compact platform with low power consumption.

The ME2000 platform shares many of the features of the Modulus Video ME6000, the market-leading HD IPTV encoding system, including:
· low resolution proxy for program guide, monitoring and Microsoft TV Picture in Picture (PIP)
· support for ad insertion triggers to streamline revenue generating operations
· Constrained Fidelity Constant Bit Rate (CF-CBR) feature that provides a variable bit rate mode for ensuring delivery of high-quality HD video at the lowest possible bit rates.
· interoperability with leading systems management tools

The ME2000 series has also been architected to support closed loop statistical multiplexing; an important benefit for satellite and program distribution applications.

Models:
The ME2600 High Definition MPEG-4 AVC Video Encoder provides operators with a lower cost alternative to the market-leading Modulus Video ME6000, providing the performance and features needed in a compact package that can also support standard definition.

The ME2100 Standard Definition MPEG-4 AVC Video Encode
r delivers performance and value and comes complete with powerful motion compensated noise reduction for optimal video quality. The platform allows operators the option to purchase this SD version today and then upgrade to HD with the purchase of a software key when needs change.

The ME2020 Standard Definition MPEG-4 AVC Video Encoder is an SD only, value-oriented product that offers the option to add powerful motion compensated noise reduction.

2. Powerful HD Encoding
The Modulus Video ME6000 is firmly established as the IPTV market's leading High Definition MPEG-4 AVC video encoder. The ME6000 utilizes the industry's highest levels of processing power to deliver the maximum benefits and broadest support for the AVC toolkit. The ME6000 delivers full resolution HD for the most demanding IPTV, satellite, and broadcast applications

3. Video on Demand
Leading content providers have begun creating movies in MPEG-4 AVC using Modulus Video's high definition (HD) and standard definition (SD) encoders to meet intense consumer interest in on-demand Hollywood content. Modulus Video real-time encoders replace existing off-line, software-based tools that require 5-8 times longer than real-time for SD encoding. Workflow improvements are even more dramatic for complex HD content. The enormous time savings enables operators to encode more content in less time and provides a dramatic increase in their production efficiency and far greater flexibility for addressing quality assurance. Modulus Video will demonstrate components of its VOD content creation solution at IBC.

4. Enhanced Systems Management from Leading Vendors
Modulus Video SD and HD encoders are fully interoperable with 3rd party management products from leading manufacturers including Evertz, ILC, Miranda, Motorola and Harmonic. With well documented interface specifications and through close work with these partner companies, Modulus Video has ensured that its encoders easily deploy into existing IPTV, broadcast, cable and satellite operations without disrupting operations.

5. Sophisticated Transport with Professional IRD Interoperability
Modulus Video is also providing network operators with new efficient transport solutions for content supply chain applications. By teaming with trusted vendors such as Sencore, Modulus will offer the MRD3187 modular receiver decoder as a proven solution that enables operators to deliver high definition and standard definition video delivery for contribution, distribution and newsgathering applications.
