DTS AT IBC 2006
(31/08/2006) D-cinema is a "hot topic" this year at IBC. The recent announcement regarding the addition of Avica's technology and product suite to DTS' existing cinema and digital images offerings significantly accelerates our entry into the digital cinema market by creating a unique and compelling solution for content creators, distributors and exhibitors as the world broadly adopts digital content distribution and exhibition platforms..

D-CINEMA

Avica's FilmStore™ family of products include :

- the DTS Cinema Media Network™, a new high-quality automated E-cinema network system for the delivery of high-definition video content with DTS Digital Surround sound
-the DTS Digital Booking System™, a web-based application enabling the booking and scheduling of motion pictures for theatrical exhibition
- DTS Digital Cinema Encoder™ with JPEG2000, the first commercially available encoder for D-cinema.
-· DTS Digital Images provides services to a wide range of entertainment customers including superior movie restorations, emergency image repair, digital blowups, and image processing for digital intermediate and HD compression.

Pro-audio
Will be demonstrated the DTS-HD Master Audio Suite, an all-in-one software solution for audio encoding, decoding and bit-stream management for next generation optical disc formats. It supports encoding and decoding of all DTS formats: DTS High Definition Master Audio, DTS Standard Definition and DTS Low Bit Rate audio streams.

Broadcast
DTS technology partner and licensee, Linear Acoustics, will be showcasing products on the DTS booth this year. Together with Coding Technologies the three companies provide an end-to-end solution for broadcasters.

DTS Executives as part of the conference programme

Dr. Michael Marcellin is a key player in the D-cinema field as a major contributor to JPEG2000. He will speak as part of a session to discuss new DCI digital cinema specifications and related developments in variable bit rate compression schemes in D-cinema. The title of his presentation is "Variable BIT RATE encoding using JPEG2000" which will take place between 14:00 and 17:30 on Thursday 7th September as part of the session "High Definition TV - We get the big Picture ", held in Room A.

John Carey, Director of Business Development for Professional Audio Products will take part in a session "Move Over DVD - Here comes the 'blue laser' (in association with the DVD Association). This session will take place at the Forum from 10:00-13:00hrs on Monday 11th September and will bring together professionals with hands-on experience of blue laser formats. They will discuss content creation and preparation, workflow management and authoring. John's contribution will cover the early experiences of content providers in the production of next generation discs HD DVD and Blu-ray and will include a short presentation of clips from the latest DTS Demo disc.

DTS Technology partner activities
In addition to the participation of Linear Acoustics on the stand DTS and Coding Technologies will launch a High Efficiency MPEG4 Surround Sound Solution for HDTV. We will also be bringing Europe's first demonstration of MPEG-4 aacPlus/DTS digital broadcasting solution to the DVB stand in partnership with Coding Technologies. Demonstrations, which will include clips from the new BT release, This Binary Universe will be available in Demo Room H near the Europa Restaurant and Hall 2 at the RAI Centre, as well as at the DVB Pavillion (Stand 1.481).
